Try it out!
1. Click on the app demo to the left
1. Click on the above link with your mobile phone
2. The Copernicus Project is working with partners in four hyperlocal communities. Pick one that appeals to you to get started
- Northern CA (Pacific Forest Trust)
- Oyster Bay, Long Island (Friends of the Bay)
- Santa Cruz, CA (Save the Waves)
- Bozeman, MT (Wild Montana)
3. Click on “Data Layers” to get a small sampling of the near real-time data layers we can access in different locations. We suggest trying out all four locations to get a broad sampling of what’s available the hundreds of thousands of different sources biomass, to above and below ground carbon, to rain fall to live wildfires across the country. We work with top experts to figure out which particular filters are relevant to monitor the ecological health of different local ecosystems, then have them tell us what specific actions are needed. If you add what you collect with your mobile phone, we can immediately upload it to the cloud and it’s available for everyone to see.
4. You will find the legends for each data layer in the lower left corner of your screen
5. Click on the Media tab to get a sense of what the user experience is like in different locations. We have integrated everything from Meetup to iNaturalist to specific climate actions you can take to improve the long-term ecological health of different ecosystems learning from some of the top experts and practitioners in the world
6. To see how this works in real-life, click on this link and put in your zip code. Go out and become a Climate Actionist. As we expand our national footprint we can help you measure with high precision the impact of your action — everything from bags of trash collected to acres protected to improvements in soil health in agricultural communities.
7. Of course if you really want to learn from the top experts in the world read one of our three issues of Journal Copernicus at the bottom of the home page.
Our whole point is to get you off your mobile phone and out into your local community. So go out and protect and restore the ecosystems that provide the air you breathe, the water you drink, the food you eat, the bees that pollinate your flowers, and the amazing birds and other wildlife in your very own back yard!
